This comes to you via my 10 year old daughter. Shes a deep thinker.

She asked me the other day, after watching a show about twinning, what would happen during rapture if one person, in a set of conjoined twins was saved, and the other one was not, how would God do that? Would the unsaved one get a free pass? I didnt really know how to answer her amusing question, so what do you think?

What would happen to their bodies? Would the one left behind be complete?

Yeah that is a good question, and I am not sure how to answer it myself. Children do come up with the best questions though don't they? I guess my answer as cruel as it sounds the other twin should have accepted Jesus, and How could God do that? Well he is God so anything is possible through him, and the first twin would be given a new heavenly body free from defect.

To start off, I don't believe in the Rapture. But, to answer your question, I'll pretend that I do. I think the twin left behind will be whole because the Rapture states that the good and just will be lifted body and all. It's not like God is just ripping the one twin off the other. IT's two bodies with two souls. However, from what I've read, the one left behind will then be in time of pain, torture and hell.

Remembering back to youth group...

When you die, your earthly body is cast away, as is the sin and wickedness with it- as long as you accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour. You receive a new body, pure and whole and perfect.

When you think about it, if the twins are conjoined, it would be really difficult for them to have completely different experiences.
Either way though- they would each receive new bodies to begin the afterlife, so the "conjoinedness" would not really be an issue.

And then there is the arguement about the fact that as long as both acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, they are saved automatically- Jesus died on the cross for all of us, taking all of the sins of all of the world onto himself for us all. All we have to do is accept that.

Good thoughts though- your daughter sure does think!

That's one of the problems with the pre-tribulation rapture theory. In fact, the rapture and the return of Christ to earth and the judgement all happen simultaneously. So the separation of the twins would happen right there.
My explanation would not satisfy you in your present understanding of future events - I used to see it that way too, but found too much Scripture to oppose it.

Since it is your soul that ascends to heaven at the time of the rapture not your body- the saved twin's soul would ascend into heaven and the other twin's soul would not.

We are each responsible for our own sin so in the case that you stated I would guess that the unsaved twin would die in their sin. They would not be saved.

You don't know how much time you have so it's best to take care of it now...

The one would go, the other would stay. Their souls are seperate and that's the part that counts. I don't know how you will explain that to you 10 year old. So cute and inquisitive. What a sweetie!

It depends, do they share the same brain? Do they share one heart? Where are they joined? But yes, if one is saved and the other is not- one would go and one would not. Maybe the one that stays would immediately have one body. But all I know is that whoever is saved in Jesus Christ will go.

I would direct her attention to the bible;1 john 1:9 if any man should confess with their mouth that jesus christ is lord , he or she shall be save. without confession no one goes into heaven.

Since 'The Rapture' is not a term in the Bible, chances are it might not be true.
Thus nothing to explain.
