We have submitted our papers to emigrate to Canada, (they went in after sept 1st so they are condensed to 3/4 papers........what i would like to know is, do you think the move to reduce the amount of paperwork will have an impact sooner rather than later on the backlog? .......we really need to know, 42 months seems forever

I am a Brit living in Canada. I came here 10 years ago. It was along tedious process even then. Shorter paperwork does not seem to quicken things up. Immigration process is tedious no matter what they do to "streamline". The problem is that Canada is a popular destination, so there are always going to be long line ups.
You may want to check in with the High Commission every three months or so. Every time you talk to someone keep a log of what was said to you, who said it and when it was said. Canada immigration is complex. Be thankful you speak one of the two national languages.

Good luck. Hope it takes less than 42 months.

Be thankful the Canadian wait is only 42 months...

I'm a Canadian who had to move to the US for employment reasons ... and now, 36 months later, it looks like I'm about another 72 months from SUBMITTING the last of my citizenship papers. After THAT, they'll start processing me ...

I am waiting too. Submitted my application about a month ago. Try and familiarise yourself with the country and customs. It can take 42 months, but sometimes quicker depending on your info provided. I think the wait will be worth it when you get in... Good luck

I don't think it makes any difference once submitted. It just makes your initial input quicker and easier, for you. once you get to Canada I am sure the 42 months will seem like a minor blip in time.

No, your application will still be put in line. There still is a huge backlog, and condensing your papers doesn't mean it will condense the process. Sorry.
And good luck!
