A good friend or family member would help, too, but sometimes it's easier to talk at first to someone that's not so close in your life. A counselor or therapist actually is a better way to go than your doctor if you want to see if talking it thru will help before trying meds. Keep in mind that all people experience depression at some point in their lives. If you're questioning, then it's probably at or beyond the point where help is what you need. It's a matter of how bad it is and how long it goes on. Sometimes meds are necessary no matter how much talk therapy you do, so if you do choose a therapist and your symptoms persist, get medical assistance as well. Btw, at some point you need to let your g/f in on what's going on with you if for no other reason than communication is essential for a healthy relationship. Hang in there. It does get better if you get beyond your reluctance to talk and do seek help.

I think that you should seek help my mother has problems with depression and it seems like the more that she holds in the worse the depression seems to get. It doesn't matter who you talk to if you don't feel comfortable talking to your girlfriend you need to talk to someone else in most cases it is often better that you talk to someone you don't know that can help you take the right steps. Then after you feel comfortable you should let your girlfriend know what is going on in your life she may be willing to help you in your time of need she may also be the best support that you might have or find.

Too bad, there are so many medications available out there to help with depression, it could change your life. But unless you are willing to talk about it you won't get help, you just can't go to Walgreens and pick something over the counter, you must seek help, even if you don't tell anybody else you are going for help. There are lots of different meds, it may take a couple of tries before you find the right one. So look in the phone book for a mental health clinic and quit wasting your life feeling depressed.

Over the last five years I had begun to have increasingly withdraw into a downward spiral of depression..
But now with the method I can fully focus my energy and thoughts into a decisive line on how to make my life better constantly. And it works like magic! I'm beginning to attract people to me once again and things have just been looking up since then.

You most certianly should. Don't wait for feelings to spiral out of control, the quicker you address the problem, the easier it might be to treat it. If you should choose not to get professional help, try to at least set some time aside to relax and enjoy yourself. Do not turn to alcohol. It doesn't help, it just makes you feel worse. Also See a psychologist rather than a psychiatrist as if you can cope with the problems and emotions without the use of medications you should. However if your psychologist refers you to the other, go with it. Good luck and lots of love.

Therapy could also be helpful. Talk to your girlfriend about it, I'm sure she will understand, and it will be helpful to have her support.

In my opinion yes If you think you are having signs of depression you need to be seen by a doctor because depression can get out of control very easily. I know I've had it for over 10 years. Good luck. Things will get better.
