I am going to Bankok next week.
I remember I went there several years ago and there was an nice area full of street vendors and people even at mid night.
I also remember that there was a hotel called ABC (maybe but not sure).
does anyone know or can recommend a good area to stay for a couple of nights where there are many cheap hotels and nice crowd.

Thanks

Koa Sarn Street and alleys nearby in Banglumpoo area has gone through a face-lift over the years. It's still an inexpensive spot for tourists but it has turned into a nice night spot for shopping and eating for locals as well. It is an old area so it's full of historical architectures. There are a lot of guest houses and hotels of all budgets. Since it's a well-known area for tourists, it's pretty safe in general (except for the obvious). Also, it's a good centre to get transportations to go anywhere in and out of bangkok at reasonable price. Ask around if you're unsure. Police are helpful.

The biggest is Chatu Chak Market. Saturdays. Then Lumphini Night Bazzar and also along Sukhumvit Road starting at Soi 4.
Khao San area is good for cheap hotels and bars (backpacker crowd hangout) but is starting to go more up-market thanks to gaining popularity amongst young Expat's and Thai's.
