It started about a week ago, my last two fingers felt like they were asleep, then two days ago I lost the strength in all my fingers. I can move it fine & use it, but I can't grip things very well. What could it be? Thanks.

There are two main nerves supplying the hand. One is pinched. Could be Carpal Tunnel. See a doc.

One sided numbness usually means a stroke when it's applied to the body. One side of a hand is a neuro problem. It is also how you know it's not psycho-somatic. If it was all in your head, your whole hand would be affected.

Must be some kind of nerve involvement. Do you use a computer a lot? Look up Carpal Tunnel Syndrome - it may be that. I used a computer a lot at one stage, (8-10 hours a day) and my hand went numb and also pins and needles sometimes. I stopped using a computer so much and it has recovered. Maybe you should see your doctor to make sure what it is.

(Forgot to say - I also have rheumatoid arthritis, so maybe that caused the numbness. In any event it has completely recovered after I cut down my computer usage)

There are really a whole host of reasons for what you have, so do see your doc to rule out the bad stuff.

As most have said it does sound like Carpal Tunnel. I developed it in both hands while I was pregnant with my daughter. Go see a doctor to be sure.
