my daughter 19 months and is infatuated with the bathroom. I had to put a lock on the door 'cause she is always trying to get in there and touch everything. i was thinking about putting a potty in there for her and when I go to the bathroom let her come in with me and sit on it. she loves to copy everything I do. I knos she is still to young now but when do you think I should start and what are some good ideas on how to train her

If she is that interested in the bathroom, start now. My daughter started training at 18 months and was out of diapers by 26 months. Althought, she still wore a pull-up at night. If she is interested---then encourage her, you don't have much to lose right? Except maybe a few hundred dollars a year on diapers.

Good luck!

If she's interested then i say go for it. Take her in with you and see what happens. She still is only 19 months and at that age she still doesn't have full control over her muscles to hold her urine. So accidents will more then likely happen. Is she taking her diaper off or asking to wear big girl panties? Those can be signs that she is ready for the potty. A couple of ideas i did with my kids that worked 1) by the toliet bowl cleaner that turns the water blue (magic water) when she pees it will turn green. kids thing its amazing. 2) get a baby doll that pees and show her with the baby doll where to go, then have her try. 3) time her, clean diaper when you give her something to drink, see how long it take for her to go, then next time try putting her on the potty when it is about the time for her to go. No matter what you try make it a big deal or a potty party (what my kids called it) it will boost her self esteem, and try not to make her upset if she does have an accident. She may just decide not to try anymore if she does get upset. You can always ask your doc. what he thinks is a good time to start. Hope this helps you out. Good luck to you and your daughter.

I think one of the most important keys to potty training is making sure the child is ready if they are not it discourages them and they don't want to try to learn anymore I'd say let her come in the bathroom with you so she gets an idea of how it's done but don't put a potty down for her just yet when shes a little bigger and ready put the potty down for her and tell her remember how mommy does it i think you should wait until she is at least 2 and if shes not ready by then, then that's okay too

My girls were ready by 1 3/4 .. THIS IS NOT COMMON... I would say 2 or 2 1/2 .. 3 for boys ... BUT keep trying .. let her sit on a potty in front of the tv...that was just one try I did .. I did an array of things to get my kids trained,... BUT BOYS TAKE LONGER, .. you have to use a lot of pull ups but it will click and things will be god.

yes. by putting a potty in the bathroom will help her when she is ready to be trained. when you need to go to the bathroom let her sit on her own potty too just like mom. even if she doesn't do anything she will be getting the idea. you will know when she is ready to seriously be potty trained like if she stays dry all nite or she comes to you and tells you she needs to be changed.

This is a good age to start introducing her to the toilet/potty let her sit on it and a clap. When she starts showing more sign like dry through the night doesn't like wet poopy diapers get her in a routine of goingto the toilet like take her every hour.

ur kid is 19 months and i dont knw whether u are still using diaper for her or not.but let me say this ,if u want to potty train ur kid then firstt u have to stop them frm wearing the diaper, and make them tell when they want to pee or piss, but i agree that it may result in wet beds and carpets, but the result will be gud ,when once ur kid feels that she wants to pee or piss and that too only in the potty then there she goes, she learns it off quickly, but give her some time, for the first few days occupy her to the restroom, may be a colourful little potty of hers may inspire her to pee there.its all in ur hands.give her some time and she will get it perfectly,my nephew took potty training frm his mother jus after his 1st bday.and now he is cool.he never uses diaper and gives his mom the sign that he want to piss .gud luck with ur parenting.sweet kisses to ur cute pie.
