The Canon PowerShot A530 or the NIkon Coolpix 4600?

I would choose the Canon A530 over the Nikon 4600.

I happen to own a Nikon 4600 and I really like the little camera, but I'd recommend the Canon A530. My son owns an A620, so I have some basis for comparison.

The A530 has another million pixels, which is nice, as the cameras both seem to be on par as far as image quality. The A530 has a 140 mm (equiv) lens and and 4600 only goes to 105, and this is a significant difference.

The biggest reason is that the Canon seems a little more durable to me and I think it will hold up to more use and abuse in the long run. The Nikon is also a long discontinued model, so be careful that you are not buying a refurbished camera without knowing it.

My vote goes to the Canon, I have the previous powershot model
and still love it.
