The word sin just means error. It is an error because it does cause separation from God; so that would follow.

Sin is sin because it often hinders ones relationship with another, even with oneself !

Yesterday my daughter brought home a math test with a 61% grade on it.
I was disappointed, I helped her correct it, we talked about doing homework ...
