I have just been diagnosed with Interstitial cystitis, IC is a cronic inflammatory condition of the bladder wall, Is can have debilitating effects. I have missed a lot of School because my pain has been very server, The School will not help me in any way to catch up the days I have missed.I should be getting homebound but the School wants me to just drop out. Thay say it's my problem if I dont come to School, But my pain has been so server I can hardley get out of bed in the mornings,

There are laws protecting the rights of disabled students. You qualify as disabled. I have FM at it began when I was 15 (therefore in highschool). If you're living in the US they cannot turn you away from public schooling. I can't remember exactly what my parents did (I was so sick its all a blur now) but you have to meet with a board of people from the school. You have to bring in doctors etc to prove you really are too sick to attend school as usual. It's called a 504 plan. They then HAVE to amend the curriculum to your personal needs. If they refuse to cooperate with you then you should contact the ACLU or a lawyer. The ACLU might help you out pro bono but I'm not sure. I hope you feel better and I hope they cooperate.

You need to speak to your urologist about pain management. I can say from personal experience that I go through bouts where the pain is much worse one week, than the week before.
For those times I keep a prescription of Pyridium (Phenazopyridine) in my medicine cabinet. It treats the pain. Although you shouldn't take it more than 3 days in a row (or as directed by your MD). You should also keep a general pain reliever on hand too, just in case.
I also find that keeping my bladder some-what full aleves some of the inflammatory pain.
I also avoid caffeine, sodas, coffees. Water is the best.
I know each person is different, but your MD should be aware that you are missing school because of IC, b/c in my experience this should not be happening. You need to change your meds, or change your lifestyle to prevent such severe flare ups!

I was diagnosed with IC about 5 years ago, and I am a health professional.

As for your school - they sound awful. If the administration isn't working with you, go to the district! You only have 1 more year...

good luck kiddo.

What do you mean by "my school is fighting me all the way?" If you have IC and a medical note from your doctor, there should be no issue with your needing frequent bathroom breaks.

We need more info on what the problem is.

Okay, got it -- thanks for the additional info. I find it hard to believe a school wants you to drop out rather than help you make up missed work so that you can graduate. Schools get state aid & funding (assuming you are in the USA) based on the number of students they matriculate.

But assuming what you say is relatively true AND assuming you have been diagnosed by a medical doctor and a copy of this diagnosis is on file with the school, then you have a case for discrimination under the Disabilities act. Speak with a lawyer.

IC is called Interstitial Cystitis and is very uncomfortable. I dont know why your school is fighing you. Im sure its because you have to take several bathroom breaks and they may be thinking that you are abusing the privelege of bathroom breaks during class. I would speak to your doctor and the principal of the school, because the school is not being fair. Good luck
