Honeslty, i am an Athiest, and I am not trying to convert you! Why must you try to tell us that you know best? Think about it, almost all wars are fought due to religion. The ones that aren't are over land. I just refuse to believe that I am suppose to be religious, when my morals make me a better person than the religious murderes and rapists of the world. Why do you want me in your clan?

So why do I have to capitalize Christian, but am not suppose to cpitalize athiest? just wondering. Capitalization is usually used to show importance, why are Christians more important than athiest me?

Will only address the first, initial question.

I personally believe that many religious people try to convert, not only athiests, but people of all religions - as there own personal religion has commanded them to do by either there saviour, or teacher, or prophet, etc. Many, honestly are not even comfortable with sharing there faith in God, Allah, YHWH, or whatever name they have for God, or there saviour, or teacher.
Many they try to convert, are forced, or at least feel pressured to do so, in order to please there deity, other people or possibly themselves.
Some feel, according to there scriptures, or holy book, that if everyone does not hear about there faith, and/or there saviour that their saviour, or prophet/teacher will not return to take them away from persecution on earth.

Athiests make the decision to choose there own destiny, not leaving it in the hands of a deity. a prophet/teacher, or any other person. An athiest knows he or she is totally responsible and takes that responsibility for his or her own thought-life, words he or she speaks, and his or her own
behaviour/actions.

Hope this helps a little.

That was an Excellent Question. Thank You.

Because they're taught it's their 'duty' to bring others into their beliefs. Christians are notorious for this. If someone is curious or drawn to any particular religion, and asks questions, then I think it's fine to tell them what you believe and why. Other than that, people need to find their path on their own. I personally happen to have a very strong faith in God, but it's between me and God. I feel no need to "convert" you, you have every right to believe as you choose. I detest those who tell me (unasked) that I will "go to hell" because "Jesus is the ONLY way". I don't care what they believe, just wish they would leave me the hell alone. I also don't hold the actions of these people against God.

Maybe because they genuinely believe it is the best way to be, that a relationship with God is an awesome and fantastic thing and would like you to share that! Noone should be shoving stuff down your throat though, it is after all your choice and I can understand it getting annoying. About the wars etc, it's true, it sucks, but I think religion is just a label used as an excuse, and if you look at individual teachings, you are unlikely to find any excuses for mindless killing, for example there's a verse in the Bible (in the bok of James) that says "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." I don't translate that as meaning go and kill people who don't have the same views as you. God is amazing and perfect and crazy about you, don't judge Him by the people who claim to be doing His will if they are clearly not. Hope this helps. All the best.

Wars are not fought over religion. That is a misconception. War is a game for money. Power and prestige following in a close 2nd and 3rd. Religion is simply the scapegoat used as a catalyst for it. I would only want you to be a christian if you truly believed and were looking for answers here. It appears you have already decided which side of the fence you are on so all I can do from my side is wave and say hello from time to time and wish you well. Incidentally, any christian who is truly christian knows better than to have the audacity or prideful nature to claim omniscience.

A key concern for those who would want to "convert you" so that you come to know Christ, would be that you think you don't need a Savior...you wrote: "my morals make me a better person than the religious murderes and rapists of the world." Yet, the truth that will set us free, is what God wrote....

"Not even one person is righteous. No one understands. No one searches for God. All have turned away. Together they have become worthless. No one shows kindness, not even one person! Their throats are open graves. With their tongues they practice deception. The venom of poisonous snakes is under their lips. Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness. Their feet are swift to shed blood. Ruin and misery mark their ways. They have not learned the path to peace. There is no fear of God before their eyes." (Romans 3:10-18)

Jon, a lot of athiest have tried to convince me there is no God, but I am glad you do not do that. I happen to be a Christian who does not try to convert others. I do not mind answering respectful questions when asked, but other than that I pretty much just practice my beliefs by example and believe that if God chooses to convert you or change your mind, he will and its between the two of you.

As you know, there are some whacked out Atheists (so-called) as well as whacked out Christians ( so-called ). Don't pile everyone together. And it is no ones job to try and convert you if you have refused the Way that Christ followers have chosen. Rather it is now up to God's Holy Spirit to do this work in you. Just as not everyone that calls themselves Christians are as such, the same goes for Atheists. I am not saying I would not like you to experience the Love of God; I would, but every person has their right to chose. Just like you would like many to see your ideas. If you are searching, may you find Truth.

What you do really is between you and God ( or your concience, whatever it is you answer to). I don't come here trying to convert anybody; because I know it's impossible for me to do. Unless God gives them the understanding, a person can not really accept Christ, anyway.

The knowledge is out there for all to know, this is why preaching is referred to as "foolishness" in the scriptures.
It is foolishness, in that, people (more than any other time in history) have access to the scriptures (really all you need) and shouldn't need to be preached to at all.

If I've ever appeared to you to be "prosletyzing" you, I apologize, as that was never my intent. I'm here only for His lost sheep, to feed them and help bring them into the
Good Shepherd's arms, for which all Heaven rejoices when they are found. Are you a lost sheep? I have know way of knowing, only my Master knows that for sure. I just leave a trail of breadcrumbs for the sheep to find there way to Him.

(Mat 18:12) How think ye? if a man have a hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?
(Mat 18:13) And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.
(Mat 18:14) Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.

I'm a Lutheran & I don't agree with people who try & make others convert. You have the right to believe or not, but there is a BIG difference in believing & organized religion, just keep that in mind ok?

It's hard to choose. Some churches want to save you. And some want your butt in a pew to fill up the church and your wallet filling their offering plates. Yet it's not good to constantly bother people about it. Some just have to learn on their own. I know several athiests personally who've been converted by miracles. Who knows maybe a miracle will change you.

GOD BLESS (Ha don't take it personal)
