Just got a job in NY !! It's only 10 weeks (April - June) -any ideas on how to find a nice affordable room? I'll work with a none profit peace organization - so money is kind of a problem.. Other than that - happy happy joy joy!! (Never been to America before, really looking forward to it! )

NYC is a pretty expensive place. If money is a concern, I suggest moving to Astoria in Queens. It is right across the 59th st. bridge from Manhattan and is a relatively short subway ride into the city and is pretty affordable.

Your best bet is to talk to the people in that organization and ask them if they have any housing resources available.

Often they will have shares available for people who are working for them, or know of people who will be willing to open their homes to poor idealists!

The other suggestions, as always...try Craigslist and see if you can find something there - or post your own message there looking for housing.
