This could be the italian in me... however,
1. Heat up half a cup of extra, extra virgin olive oil (heat helps it spread better)
2. Spread evenly from roots to ends(on washed and towel-dried hair!)
3. Wrap in towel or cap for 10 minutes (have a tea or cappuccino - the heat helps penetration)
4. ! shampoo - 2 if ness.

Cider vinegar rinse. It adds shine instantly. And it's good for the scalp too. The general recipe is 1 part vinegar and 7 parts water. Rinse your hair with it after shampoo and before conditioning. Leave on for a couple of minutes and wash off with water.

Drench hair with extra virgin olive oil, wrap with a towel and hold the hair dryer on your head for about 15 minutes... rinse and shampoo as normal. You will immediately notice an extra shine and softer feeling hair. I do this once every 3 months or when I think my hair needs an extra kick of shine... hope it works for you, too!

Don't try the mayonnaise thing. Trust me!
It took me 6 washes to get it out.

Food and hair do not mix. Unless of course, you have gum stuck in your hair then peanut butter is good.

If you truly want to be a "kitchen witch" and brew up your own haircare, there are a lot of online craft stores to get your ingredients and recipes.
All this takes a lot of time and money when you can just do yourself a favor and pick up something at a salon. Yes, it is pricier than the market, but your hairdresser can recommend the best thing.
