Yes, lots of different cheeses and different pickles are good with different cheeses - sweet pickles are lovely with Brie and Camembert (like fig chutney or green tomato pickle), spiced apple pickle goes well with stilton. And pretty much any pickle goes with feta or any other goats cheese.

Sure, whenever we have a swiss cheese fondue we serve sour miniature gherkins, and pickled pearl onions with it.
Also pickles are great in sandwiches, with or without cheese!
Don't limit yourself to cheddar cheese, there are so many other great cheeses out there!!!

Sorry, but the name is Cheddar. You can eat pickle with just about any cheese, really.
