Read it aloud to yourself after reading it silently. Our brains can memorize sounds much easier than sights. Think about how easy it is for you to memorize the lyrics to a song. If possible, and you have enough time, you should read anything that needs memorizing aloud at least once in order to retain it.

As I read I would take notes. Then read the chapter summary. It is best to study right after that class if possible while it is fresh in your mind..

Options are:
-Read and summarize your note
-Read over several times
-Read into a recorder, and play back several times
-Let your friend(s) read out certain difficult portions to you. Man has a way of remembering what his friends say.
-Join a study group to discuss salient points.
