The illegal debate shouldnt really be about the illegals, it should be about how or why they got in here in the first place? Instead of hating on the illegal population and throwing out propaganda, shouldnt we look at our own Government and ask why? Why is it so difficult for them to get papers? Why has the INS not been reformed? Why are we extending a hand to other counrties, and ignoring the needs at home? We spend all this money elsewhere, how about spending some reforming a policy that is NOT working.

You make some solid points. But remember, people enjoy their hate. Sad, but true. Its not politically correct to be prejudice against black people but to hate Latinos is perfectly acceptable.

The current state of the immigration has many factors. For one, we needed them and they needed us.

We have been letting people in for a very long time not requiring any documents ,which we have done at many points through out history. Historically we turn around & give them residencey. We did this for the Irish, Italians & Gremans.
9/11 stopped ALL reformation talks, which was stupid. Somehow we thought these people would not cross the boarded. We all know the 9/11 terrrists came thru Canadian boarders, but somehow we blame Mexico. I have never once heard of building a wall between us and Canada.
Reformation is the only place to start. I agree with you whole heartedly. I also feel that we need to FORCE Mexico to clean up their own mess & do what is right by thier people.
If we stopped letting people wire money to Mexico for even one day, that would no doubt produce some fast results. Unless Mexico makes some serrious changes we will have this crisis in the US.

If I leave my car keys in my car and its stolen.I am partly to blame for leaving the keys in it. But the car thief is the one that's guilty of grand thief, and can get 20 years in prison, not me..
We don't need any laws that make it easier for people to come here.We have 300 million people,in this nation.
.We need a moratorium on all immigration until we can address the issue of the illegal aliens that are here already. When do you suggest we close the doors ,never ? So when this nation is depleted of all its water and natural resources that's just a little too late to fix it isn't it? It must be done now if this nation is to survive and not become just like other 3rd world countrys..This nation natural resources are not renewable,it cant support another 6 or 7 more million people.Tell me why should it be easy to gain citizenship,?
What does this nation gain by it? Over population, starvation, death and destruction all go together.I want more for my children's .children.
Make the illegals go back to their home country's and then secure our borders. Its past time to place America first.I am not without concern and compassion for the world, but what has it gotten the USA ? Only hate, disrespect and scorn. Even the illegals hate this country and make fun of,and insult its people and this nations flag.

So if people come illegally we should respond by finding a way to give them what they want and ignore the impact on our schools, health care and services that were the reasons the laws exist, to begin with?

I can't agree.

I would also craft and spend the budget differently if I had line-item ability to choose, but I don't.

Sounds good but as far as making it easier to get papers that may not be a good idea. Most of the illegal population is uneducated and unskilled. We do not need a large influx of people who are not capable of supporting themselves. It would be OK to bring in people who can contribute to society but why bring in people who will only take from our country and not add to it. A small amount of unskilled uneducated would not hurt too bad but the numbers that are currently coming in will drag the country down.

Well I half agree. I am still at a loss as to why we would blame someone besides the individual breaking the law. The system obviously needs to be revamped but as long as someone chooses to circumvent the law they are going to do it regardless of what new "system" we expose them to. Have we gotten so used to "the devil made me do it" that we forget the immigrants are flat out choosing to break the law and then committing several crimes just to get gainful employment. And then we have people in this country who flat out refuse to uphold the law and employ these people and give them false identification. And everyone that breaks the law needs to be prosecuted.
We can blame the moon for all that's worth, but it doesn't change the fact illegal immigrants were faced with two choices when they chose to immigrate to this country- they had the choice to do so legally or they could do so by breaking the law. And quite frankly, the choice they made speaks volumes about their character and whether they need to be in this country or not.

Policy is a big component of the debate. Lack of enforcement on the border is also a part of the debate. 'Sanctuary cities' are part of the debate. Drug and human trafficking crimes are part of the debate. And, the people that've emigrated illegally to the country are part of the debate. It's an issue with many different facets and tangents, the bottom line is there is no coherent policy, and only stop-gap enforcement of that.

I think the focus should be on securing the border and having people go the legal route, but into the rules have changed, illegals are illegals. I say this as someone who shops at a tienda on occassion and I'm sure many of my co-patrons are illegals.

So we should hate the crime, not the criminal?

Propaganda? No, it's just the truth. They are sucking up billions of our tax dollars because they are to lazy to fix their own country.

Why is it difficult for them to get papers? Because we can't let everyone in the world come to our country and suck up our hard-earned money. If you feel so guilty about having a nice life, sell everything you own and give the money to some charity. I do not feel guilty. I have worked hard my entire life (since I was seven), and I have earned everything that I have. Why should I have to give it to some criminal?

I do agree that we need to stop spending so much money in other countries and keep our charity at home. I am sick and tired of Uncle Sam giving money to other countries only to have their dictators take it for themselves.

Our policy does not need to be reformed, it needs to be enforced!

Why should our governemnt be the one looking? Why is the Mexican, Guatamalan, and other governments around the world looking at themselves for answers.

I get really freakin' sick of everyone laying all the blame on America for being the happening place it is.

Mexico, as one example, has NO excuse for being a crappy third world country. And it's leaders, instead of demanding we take care of their people like the whining little children they are, should look to it's people and see their strenghth, and utilize them.

Personally I don't hate illegal immigrants.
I just want them to pay their dues and be part of the system, not on the outside taking something they do not have a right to take, and taking entitlements they are not entitled to. I also think all drug pushers and gang bangers should be deported even if they were born here!
