From a "lottery". Didn't ask for money up front, taking it out of winnings. Anyone else been through something like this?

Sounds fishy?

Don't give them any info on you, SS number, bank statements.

Another scam is they say they have a bank check for you but they over paid. SO then they ask that you send them X amount of money for the shipping costs or handleing fee (100s if not 1000) then when you go to cash the real check it bounces.

Ask for phone numbers and addresses, call them back and do a internet search on the lottery company.

My friends grandmother is going through something like this right now. It was from another country and they said she won a long time ago but never collected the money (she was always filling out those dang sweepstakes things). They sent her a check for $5,000 and it was a ligit check and once it clear, she has to give back $2,500 for somethings, taxes I guess, and after that she will receive another $40,000. It sounds too good to be true to me, but they are trying it out because they have nothing to lose. Stuff like that looks illegal to me, especially if it is out of the country.

Did you enter a lottery? Did you buy a ticket? If no then you'll be asked for some money soon. DON'T GIVE IT TO THEM. Don't send them anything like a canceled cheque or bank statement or any other personal information. Be ware.

My friend just got a certified letter saying they won 250,000. Sent her a check for 4000.00 and wanted them to send then 1/2 of the money back to them for taxes. They contacted the FBI-it is a scam.

Its a scam. They almost got my sister.
The check they send you will not clear your bank. You cannot cash it, will have to deposit it and you will spend the money before you realize its not a real check then you will be stuck owing the back all that money back.
