I believe men can't be friends with women. Most situations, men just want more. Women are the ones that stop or allow it. It's just better that married men stay with their wives and ignore the single person.

Yes, I would imagine that many married men do avoid friendships with single women. It's not so much that a single woman is a "threat" and married men are afraid they will cheat. It's more likely that the man knows his wife will look at his female friend as a "threat" and she may not trust her hubby (or the woman) to keep things plutonic and not have an affair. Few men want to open this can of worms; better to avoid the situation entirely. Aside from the cheating aspect, many wives (and husbands too, for that matter) are VERY jealous when it comes to their spouses' friendships with the opposite sex, even if they know the relationship is totally innocent. The wife may feel neglected and wonder "why does he need a female friend other than me?" Finally, there's the issue of compatibility. Other than work, many married men probably don't think they have much in common with a single woman and her lifestyle (particularly if the man has kids and the woman doesn't).

Maybe not so much a threat - because I do believe men and women can be "just friends"....however most people don't have that mindset and it's easier to not have friends than go home and hear your wife (or husband in the opposite case) complain about it.

Men should not be expected to.
Some probably do in order to avoid conflict either at home...or confusing their own mind. It can be a dangerous thing to do when things are not going so well at home.
I personally enjoy talking to women more, especially with matters of the heart. My line of thinking is much more in line with a woman's than most typical male to male conversations.

If they have any sense they do. Men can be "just friends" with a female but it's most always a strain on their other relationship because the man is spending time with another female. Their spouse should be a first choice for "best" or a close female friendship.

No, because of their vows of marriage. and the commitment to their wife and children. Wake up!! and stop it! Single women don't want a married man for friendship. They want what they can't or shouldn't have. the only threatening thing is lack of morals.

Why? Almost all of my friends are female. No way I would quit talking to my friends when I get married again. I was married (unfortunately to a green card seeker) and I did not stop talking to my friends even though my ex-wife was EXTREMELY jealous. It makes no sence. As long as the guy doesn't cheat - why not talk with female friends. So what?
I even talk to ex-gf's!!! As long as it is just talk! haha
