The fact that pdf locks up the document is the whole point.
You may be able to cut and paste the text out of the pdf and into a word document if you are patient and the security on the pdf doesn't prevent it.

This is more difficult than it sounds, since a pdf document is actually an image. There is a program at http://www.verypdf.com/pdf2word/index.html that has a free download, but I don't know if it's any good or not.

i dont know any software to convert it automatically but you can selelct text and make copy paste, i think its an easy way to convert and edit in word.
