It takes forever for mothers who have a conscience. Still go and have a life, but try to make more early evening or lunch plans because nothing beats being tucked into bed by the loving eyes of your mother. It's a child's security and peace of mind. You must be a good mom to be consciuos of your child's needs and feelings. Keep that conscience and you can't go wrong, especially since their family image has been shattrered.

First of all, you should not feel guilty about having a life. Just go out a few times and it will get easier and easier every time. All mothers, single or not, feel guilty about leaving their children, but the feeling passes the longer you are a mom. Trust me, it gets better. You will wake up one day and realize how much you need a break and you will be more than willing to take that break.

It takes a long time for any mother to not feel guilty about leaving their children behind to have fun, even if the break is very well earned. My son is almost 3 and i still cant go out and have a good time without thinking about him so much that i end up not enjoying myself anyway.

You shouldn't feel guilty about going out. Every mother needs and deserve a break! Being a mom is a tough job, ecspecially a new mommy..I just had my third child in October and I'm dying to get a free night with no kids! Good Luck! :)

Hmmm, five minutes after you leave the house. The only thing you need to do is be responsible about going out. Don't stay out all nite, don't go out too frequently, make sure the children are being watched by a responsible babysitter, etc. You know the drill. Sure the kids come first, but make a little time for yourself.

Heck, I feel guilty just leaving her with my mom so I can go get some necessary shopping done, let alone going out to do something for myself! Just remember, like in my case, you really don't need to feel guilty, as long as your child is being taken care of. If my mom watches my daughter, I get done what I need to without the hassle of having my daughter with me, and at the same time, her and my mom get to spend time together, so they are both happy.

I have 2 kids and my time to myself is after they go to bed. My husband and I have our time then. I don't really have that need to go out with friends. More than likely, you'll always feel guilty about it.

Every person and situation varies, but as long as you know that your kids are safe and well taken care of, try to let it go.

Being a mom, there will always be some form of guilt, but you have to realize that you need that time for yourself to get out and be with adults. :o)
