my son turned 9 months old on november 3rd and he now can sit up unsupported. he learned that about 5 weeks ago....he can not crawl but when i stand him up next to a table, he loves it and does not like when i put him back down so it does seem like he has some motivation. I just think he is lazy on other things. as for food...i give him 3-8 ounce bottles and 2 jars of food a day...any more and he will puke. he is defintely not ready for 3rd foods, table foods, bread finely chopped up, greber bicuits or puffs...he constanly will gag. when my daughter was his age, she was way ahead of him in everything. does anybody have a child that is just taking their time?

I have 4 children and 3 of them is boys and 1 is a girl. My first child was a boy and he was pretty quick, he never crawled but he learned how to walk at 9 mth's. My middle son learned how to walk when he was almost 1 yrs. old. My daughter learned how to walk at the same time as my older son. I have a 12 day old son now and who knows when he is going to start walking are sitting.
Every child is different and it does not mean that one is smarter then the other it is just the way things are. The fact that your son likes to stand up is a great sign that he will be walking in no time. Just be patient with him and he will surprise you.. Good Luck!!!

Your son is well within the average range. Crawling 6-12 months (my son didn't crawl till after he walked) Walking 10 - 18 months. Food is definitely a personal thing. My daughter had just started solids at 9 months. Good luck!

It's hard not to compare your kids when you have two or more. But it doesn't sound like he's late at anything...it sounds like your daughter was very early.
Lots of babies are just starting solids at 6-9 months old, so the fact that he can't eat toddler food makes sense...he's not a toddler!
You might want to consult your pediatrician, but your son sounds absolutely normal to me!

My sisters baby wasnt even sitting up at nine months. But Now she is just over a year and is walking crawling and sitting up and even jumping around and dancing and can say momma and dadda and duck etc.She is a very curious and happy girl. It is not that your baby is slow at all. Some babies just dont care to use the new skills they can do right away and some babies do..it could just be your babies temprement but your babe could be like hers who went from sitting to walking in like two months. Dont worry about it.

he sounds fine. was he premature at all? Even a matter of a couple weeks can effect a childs first year of development. BUt honestly he doesnt sound THAT far behind.
I nannied a little girl who at 8 months couldnt roll over, couldnt sit up, and couldnt hold a bottle. She was 7 weeks premature, and the mother never stimulated her... but anyway. She's a toddler now and perfectly normal.
Some babies, especially boys, can take longer to develop and fine tune their skills.
just keep him stimulated, and voice any concerns to your doctor.

i am going through the same problem. i am remembering what my boys did at my daughters age. they both did everything early. they were walking by nine months. my daughter is almost 8 months and just now started crawling. my doctor told me she would crawl in her own time. and she did. don't worry. and for his eating just give him what he can eat and no more. you don't wanna make him sick.

Our second child was slower to do things than our first. Don't push him. He'll be fine. When you have your first baby, you want them to do everything early. When the second one comes you want them to stay a baby longer.

I believe most children achieve these milestones at their own pace. However if it is a concern for you I would ask your pediatrician if it is normal or not.
