OK That was in the Old Testament and part of the Mosaic Law . While some things in the Old Testament are still relavent today (ie, Ten Commandments) Things like this were for that time period. While I personally believe you should do your best not to work on Sunday, sometimes you have no other choice.

The 10 commandments should be honored at all times, but the Levitican laws were for the Jews before Christ. As He said, He came to fulfill the law, and that whole "he who is without sin cast the first stone", kinda sums it all up. The Levitican laws were made up at a time for people still in the "slave mentality", meaning thinking for themselves was new to them. They had to have everything specified, not only laws, but what to do if specific laws were broken. These are the same people who didn't really comprehend that whole idol thing Moses told them, and as soon as he went up the mountain, went and built a golden calf. We're talking not very evolved people here. People who could not understand concepts like foregiveness, which is why I think God didn't send us Jesus for quite a while, we weren't mentally competent to understand His message until we evolved a bit more. So yeah, harsh laws and harsh consequences for a slow witted people, because thats all they could understand at that time.

First of all God's word isn't something to play around with... Next Jesus has set up a new covenant for us.. Please don't judge our bibile without studying it...
That is incorrect.. @ below post that states the old testiment is void or null... What about the prophecy still to be fulfilled? or the ten commandments... They are said over again in the new testiment... Therefore you can't say the old testiment is nulled...

What kind of 'most' people are you hearing THAT from?
We break God's heart, when we sin.
THAT'S the ONLY thing broken--like, besides a commandment, or whatever.
God loves us ANYWAY. He just doesn't like for us to STRAY.
AND He accepts us RIGHT BACK, with our repentance.

The bible is actually based on principles and not rules.Jesus came to replace the mosaic law and to be our perfect role model to follow closely his steps.

Jesus picked corn on the sabbath, & healed on the sabbath, & it upset those scibes & pharices, Jesus came to fulfill the law, Therefore Sabbath means REST, Paul told the saints to bring their tithes on the first day of the week, Jesus said whosoever will come let him come, & I will give him REST. Our rest is in Jesus Christ
