They derive satisfaction from the knowledge of Jesus' love and his guidence in their lives.
I personally understand that your situation, whether good or bad, is 20% decision, 20% luck, and 60% application. I gain satisfaction from the fact that the decsions I made have been good ones and placed me in a descent position in life.
If you need some overarching deity to gain purpose so be it. As for me life is worth living for the sake of life itself and the only way to immortality is by making a lasting legacy (preferably one that soem tenth grader will read about someday).
