I'm contemplating whether or not to tell this guy that I've been dating (1yr) that I have a problem with popping diet/ephedrine pills. He knows I used to model, but he doesn't know anything about my habit. He's dealing with his own addiction (tobacco chew) because he used to play baseball. I want to tell him that he made me feel comfortable in my own skin when I was with him (he just moved back to his home town, for a job) But he told me before he left that I could always call him if I ever needed someone to talk to. Would this appropriate? Would this deeper or further our connection? We weren't too serious yet, but would this open the door to trust & love between us if he has his own problems he wants to share?

If you want to further the relationship, I would certainly be open and honest to him about your problem. He may even have some advice for you. If anything I'm sure he'll support you through it. Be strong! Maybe you two can overcome your habits together!

Well, it will definately open things up. I think you need to tell him about your problem so you can finally let him know everything about you. However, don't be shocked if he doesn't get upset. You have dated him for over a year and this should have come up way sooner than now. Just inform him of your fears about telling him and move on from there. I'm sure he won't be shocked to know you were taking diet pills for your modeling. Just be honest and open. If he breaks up with you, then you know he wasn't the one for you after all. When a man says you can always call him for anything, this is just what he should expect. Good luck.

I see it as kind of risky since you didn't share this with him for a whole year and now he's away from you. Try to deal with your problem instead. If you're successful, that will be a good time to share it with him. You can even tell him that you were so embarrased to share that in the past but that he was the one motivated you to seek out help...

Only if you are going to STOP!!! You need to get help, and you will go through some major changes as you learn to get healthy again.

It might "further" your connection or it might break it. That doesn't matter; what matters is that you do what you feel is right regardless of the outcome. It's more important to take care of yourself, than to worry about how it might affect your non-serious (long distance?) relationship.

It's good that you feel you can trust him enough to talk to him about it. You need someone to talk to because it obviously is weighing heavy on you. If he's a good friend it will mean alot to him that you shared this with him. It should bring you closer and hopefully help you both out. Good Luck.

Go ahead...But dont start straight away look for the opportuned moment or create one by engaging him in a conversation.
P.S. If you can get him to open up about his problems first then you can certainly be sure you wont be let down.

If you tell someone that cares about you, it won't be a secret anymore. Don't blame your problem with the pills on his moving. And don't expect him to tell you problems in return. Just tell him that you do have this problem and you needed to tell a friend.

I think it would be good to tell him and yes, it would help to make a stronger bond. If he really cares about you, then he will want to know and hopefully, help you conquer your addiction. Good luck!
