If you are an employee with US source income you are, by definition, not allowed an ITIN. The proper number to use is a Social Security Number. The ITIN is for those not entitled to a SSN but who need to declare US source income. To become an employee in the USA you need a social security number.

Hope this clarifies matters for you.

To obtain an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) you submit a IRS Form W-7 with your return for the first year that you are required to file a US income tax return. This number is used for those that do not have a Social Security number but have US income. The form has instructions on who must file and how to do so. The following link will take you to a form W-7 which you can print and use.

If you have previously be issued an ITIN from a former tax filing and do not have that number available, you may call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 or visit a IRS local office.

Do you mean your ITIN number, the one that is issued to people who do not qualify for a social security number and it used only for tax purposes? You can go to the social security office and fill out a form and they will send it to you.
