Well if this "fine" young man hadn't been resisting then none of that would have happened. Place the blame where it belongs and that is on this "fine" young man who had obviously broken the law and didn't want to face the consequences or his punishment like a man. Maybe now he has learned his lesson that it just isn't worth it to resist the police when you are getting arrested.

I live in Jacksonville and I know exactly what you're talking about. JSO should be using their time and effort in solving the 126 freaking murders we have had this year. Besides, the guy will sue and win and he can buy his self some more teeth.

Police are NOT paid nor were they hired to punish those accused of a crime. Get that fact straight. Many of those that find this incident funny will be thinking something quite differently once they find themselves in the same predicament. Even the young man said something derogatory is no reason to hurt him; that is a violation of his Constitutional rights. There are Federal laws against that, by the way.
Cops act ruthless in poor neighborhoods often cursing and pushing kids and even adults (almost defying them to defend themselves so they can carry out an arrest) but they act quite differently when they're in middle or upper middle class or rich neighborhoods. Anyone who thinks this is fair deserves to find an angry police officer who didn't get his free meal or free coffee and donuts...
First, get in touch with your Ombudsman, then get in touch with the Attorney General, Internal Affairs and get in touch with the news media and make sure that you have your facts written down (so you don't make a mistake when you're speaking) and get as many elected officials involved and do let them know that you are going to mention their names to the news media.
We pay them to protect us all, not to come around like bullies and petty tyrants pushing, abusing, mistreating and terrorizing people. If you allow them to continue with this abuse, they will continue with the abuse. Put a stop to it, and do it soon or it will only get worse (I traineded 7 kids who are now nearing retirement age from the NYPD, my son-in-law is a police officer and my brother-in-law and my best friend's older brother are retired corrections officers; my best friend's first son-in-law is also a police officer).

Most of the previous answers you got to your question make me sick.
Nothing can justify police officers kicking a mans teeth out to make an arrest. Nothing. Definatley an abuse of their "power".
I swear most bad cops were bullied as children.

In every department you have those individuals who uses brutality unjustly, just because they can, under the guise of authority.

that's not so bad. from where i live, cops sell and use drugs, own brothels/night clubs, take bribes on a daily basis, salvage innocent victims, collect 'payola' (a local term for gambling money) and a whole lot more.

And I'll bet he wasn't doing anything wrong was he? An angel that the police just wanted to pick on. Criminals usually get what they deserve.
