Drugs cause a feeling of euphoria stimulated in the lympic system of the brain. Persons with no or poor coping skills are usually affected. Children of 1 or more addicts( including ciggarettes and alcohol) have elevated peaks on EEG studies showing a strong potential for addiction. Weakness is not the reason, no one person should ever be labled weak or pathetic due to an addiction. They just need a moment of clarity.

Addictions usually associate with something, whether its feeling good, excited or like you're doing somthing that's taboo. For example, porn is addictive. These are called psychological addictions, they are the hardest to get rid of, though I'm not saying that physical addictions are easy to shake off. Many ex-smokers having detached themselves from the physical need, experience good memories of smoking for years afterwards.

nobody starts out wanting to be an addict. it's the nature of some drugs that in the beginning it is pleasurable and people think they can handle it. in the end, they lose family friends, money and self respect. it is an insidious path.

addictive personality. i get addicted to everything, good & bad. i think it's more of a personality trait than anything

because there are those of us that cannot cope with real life and need a crutch to lean on to get thru the day, week or life as time permits.
In olden times we would have perished by disease before becoming such a burden on society.

well because in life some people just can not find any other way to deal with their problems they can not take what life is throwing at them for example
If you were a child and your mother died and you never dealt with it all later in life you do have a higher percentage to use drugs drink ect...
