I try to go to church every Sunday. My parents NEVER let me miss church. I still feel you need to be in church on Sunday to talk with other believers, to pray, to worship God, and to hear the sermon. Sometimes you really can meet someone new at church, who may be able to help you grow spiritually. I research what I believe in books (like the ones by Lee Stroble) and on-line. I don't know everything, but I have a better idea why I was taught what I was, and what truth is behind it.

The unprofitable servant was only guilty of doing nothing. He was cast into outer darkness were there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.I am a Christian, and I go to church because I find it to be wonderful.I worship God there,I learn more about Him from my Brothers and Sisters, and sometimes I help a hypocrite find the right path. There is were I can receive and give as well. It's like a marriage. After work I can't wait to get home and be with my wife and children.I find that same desire spiritually when I think of church and my family there.I know the church can't save me,but this I know for sure, without a doubt.More people would be getting saved if they were going to church.

Because I Want to attend. It's not mandatory. I do research, I do pray, and I Thank God everyday. Church can't save me, God can. Leaders do get lost. That's why we are there to help them and others.

Because it's important to converse with other Christians. Different view points can help you determine alot more about your faith and beliefs than dealing with it yourself.
Pastors are humans too. Noone said you had to believe EVERYTHING your pastor says. He's just doing the best he can with HIS interpetation of the Bible. Obviously they can make the same mistakes as the rest of of but they are there for yor benefit. You job is to simply take what you can from his preachings and apply it to the best you can of your life.
They also have more knowledge and can help do other things like organize events within the community and so on. Being part of a church congragation can open the awareness to others in it that you may need help with something like finding a babysitter, car, job, or something as simple as sharing prayers with you if you need it somewhere in your life.
I'll admit I don't go to church as much as I should, and I'd like to think it's not manditory but when I do go, I can see the benefits and I know that it puts a smile on God's face.

Not mandatory, but a good idea. We know the church can't save us, but often times the good ones lead you to salvation. Yes they provide guidance (study), and some leaders are lost---blind leading the blind, but that's not to say all of them are.
What makes you think we haven't "researched", prayed to God for assistance, and thanked Him for what we have???? Hmmm??

To a certain point going to church is not mandatory, it is willfully, Hebrews 10:25 NOT Forsaking the assemling of ourselves together as the manner of some is, But exhorting one another & so much the More(COMING TO CHURCH MORE) as ye see the day approaching.

Right you are grasshopper,
True Christians know that the church is only a building. God does not dwell there but inside each and everyone of us.
Christians should gather together to praise God and give thanks to Him for their very existence.
I am a Christian man and for 58 years I have had the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit inside of me. God uses us the way He has planned.
Now, if you can, snatch the pebble from my hand.><>

It is a command.
Hebrews 10:25- NOT forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
NOTE: The not in that is not a suggestion but a command word.

I don't think it should be mandatory but it's very beneficial.
Church members are like coals in a fire. They keep each other lit. If you separate one from the rest, the flame will quickly die out. But it will reignite again as soon as you throw the coal back into the fire.

i truly think that people go to church to be with people of like minds ,,,it gives them strength and makes them feel more like they belong to society .it is very tribal like and nothing really wrong with it .
i think the only thing is others who desire not to go with others or do not feel the need to go to church should not be told that they are sinners or that church goers sort of push there nose up at others ......
i find my strength from meditation weather in my garden or in the fields, praying by myself ,etc etc .
but mandatory is a word i find very restricting .....................it should be a desire and a need for those who enjoy it ...........
