Asher j you asked this question before, so I'm going to give you almost the same answer as before.

I think you're about 3 yrs to late, you should have had a Coach / Trainer at 13 years of age and been training at that point, but if you want it bad enough and are willing to work I'd say you had a shot.

Remember if you choose to do this it becomes your ( job / career ) it's not just the glory you see on Television, you will eat and sleep bicycles seven days a week.

Yes, you are the perfect age to start training and setting your goals... First, see if there are any recreational and racing clubs in your area. Get hooked up with as many cyclists and bike shops in the area. Then, as you get better and stronger, look for a trainer and sponsor(s).
Join USCF and get on those mailing lists, too. Good luck and ride safe!

There is nothing wrong with that at all. I've known some riders who started earlier than that. Go for it. Most of all, have fun and don't burn yourself out.
