My cat had a few fleas bothering him so I gave him a bath w/ flea shampoo, didn't work. A few weeks later, I put flea powder all over his body but not on his face since it smelled kinda weird. Now he has NO fleas on his body but all over his face and neck, he's even started to get little sores around his neck, behind his ears and on top of his head from scratching so much. I bought a tube of Revolution and put it on him today. How soon will it start working and is there anything else I can do, he seems so distressed and I feel so bad.

Revolution is an EXCELLENT product! You wills see results within 24 hours with NO fleas!
BUT, you MUST treat the environment, also. The whole house needs to be treated to get rid of the fleas. Buy a product with an Insect Growth Regulator (IGR). The vet probably sells it. (I like EctoKyl Spray). Spray everything in the home, behind curtains, under furniture, baseboards, bedding, etc. Do NOT get a flea bomb! They only get the area where the insecticide lands, not behind or under furniture, not behind the drapes, not in the cracks or crevices of the floor.
Good luck.

I have never heard of Revolution, but it should answer any questions you might have on the packaging of this product. Frontline is a very good product, however remember nothing works 100%. From your description it sounds like your cat may be pretty heavily infested with fleas, you may want to consider treating your home also. I highly recommend that you don't mess with the flea treatments that you can buy in your grocery store, they are pretty much useless. Give your vet a call with any further questions, I'm sure they would be glad to answer your questions. They also have flea sprays at a reasonable price that kills fleas instantly, however, it is not long lasting. Good Luck!!

mjmorrisey99 is absolutely right about the hartz products and about only purchasing flea/tick preventative from a reputable place (namely your vet). Hartz is not only ineffective but deadly. I have seen quite a few toxic reactions to it in cats at the animal hospital where I work and even a few deaths. I can't quite understand why the product isn't off of the market. It's infuriating !!! Also, we don't recommend purchasing flea and tick prevention from places such as petmeds express, etc... it has nothing to do with, as people say, vets "trying to make a buck" it's in your pets best interest to purchase it through your vet who purchases it through the actual manufacturer. ANyway, mu opinion is if fleas AND ticks concern you then Frontline is a must. Advantage is only for fleas and I've heard many people say if fleas are the only concern that advantage works best anyway. I'm not really sure about Revolution-we only rarely use it at my hospital.... and it's controversial wether or not it protects against deer ticks anyway !!!

revolition and frontline both work within 48 hours. But studies have shown that revolution kills faster within the 1st 24 hours.
however the amount of fleas killed within the first 48 hours is similar.
Also the length of effectiveness of the product is similar with a 2 days difference between the 2 products.
i would say use revolution for cats as it can be effective for ear mites as well.

Revolution, Frontline, Advantage all work within 48 hours after application. The home needs to be treated to erradicate the fleas that are not on the cats with flea bombs or boric acid (natural occuring mineral).

I don't know about Revolution, but Frontline is AWESOME. We put Frontline our kitty when he was allowed to go outside and it worked in just a few hours.
Those little sores on his his neck, ears and head need to be treated too. You can get antibiotic ointment (make sure the tube says it's safe for cats) at pet stores or something from your vet. You don't want them to get infected.

Dont waste your money on all this crap.
Go buy some olive oil from the grocers and rub on the cat.
It is safe for the cat to lick...fleas hate oil.
