Hmmm, I'm not sure either whether that's due to improperly fitting frames or a bad prescription. If it's a bad prescription, then contact lenses won't help. If it's the frames, different frames or contact lenses should help.
The only way to get used to contact lenses is to use them. I know, it sounds silly, but that's the truth. You may be afraid of poking yourself in the eye, but after you've done it a bunch of times, you'll realize that it's no big deal. You'd have to poke yourself pretty darn hard in order to actually blind yourself. The risk of blinding yourself by poking yourself in the eye is very, very low. If you want to be extra safe, though, make sure your nails are well trimmed before inserting contact lenses.
Contact lenses are scary at first, but with practice, it becomes second nature to put them in and take them out of your eye.
Also, just to clarify, LASIK can help people with farsightedness, so don't dismiss that as an option. Visit the FDA or BBB websites for further details on LASIK for farsightedness.
Good luck!

Sometimes no glasses don't cause the same eye strain as an incorrect prescription. I have the same thing happen to me from time to time, and it's how I know I need a new prescription. Go see your optometrist and get a new set of lenses. In the meantime, try downing a coke. If you don't regularly drink a lot of caffeine the caffeine in it will help the headache from this. An alternate theory makes me ask if you have been spending more time around computers when you are wearing your glasses? Sometimes adjusting the brightness setting on your laptop and tv screen can help this out. Brightest isn't always best for your eyes. You want something that matches the lighting in the current room so that your eyes aren't straining to adjust between the room lighting and the tv.

Have your eyes examined again. It could be the prescription you have is no longer what you need.
Consider getting glasses with UVA and UVB protection, or something that will shade and so protect your eyes from glare.
Or if all else fails, consider Lasik surgery to correct the eyes themselves, rather than use glasses.
Good luck!

You need to go to real Ophthamologist to get an eye exam, a field test. He/she will give you a Prescription for lenses just for you. Then go to an Optomertrist who will fill the 'script' for you.

You may have the wrong prescription.
How long have you had these pairs for? You should get your eyes checked every year, just in case your eyesight degrades/improves.
Are you sure that you're answering your optometrists' questions truthfully ;)
