I have been going to my Hair dresser faithfully for almost 2 years. Even though I take very good care of my hair it is still breaking. My Hair dresser is very good but, very expensive. I just want to go back to brown. So my question is if I have blond hair will a dark wash (semipermanent) Really wash out of blond hair. Or will it adleast stay in enough to keep my roots from showing.

Well I had done the same thing I was a blonde and then I went to light brown. Do a permanent light brown. At first every time you wash your hair it's gonna get light. But the more you dye it, it will stay light brown. Then only thing is if you want to go back to your blonde hair you gonna have to do a color remover to go back to light hair again. So if you decide to go dark make sure you want to stay that way for a long time.....but light brown hair looks good on every body so I recommend it!

First the color at your tips(end of hair) is not the true color at all, its seriously bleached out and you dont' want to match that!

Okay, once you go darker it will help with the dryness.

You need to get a shade closer to you natural base tone.
the light color all over is destroying your hair.

You only recolor the roots only for 20-25 and blend all the color over all hair for 10 or so, follow the instructions. You may need a friend to help, since you need to get some help "seeing" all that needs to be done.

Follow this advice, if you put a darker color all over at once, your tips will be a much darker stringy color (the bleached dry hair will absorb more color, since it has no pigment of its own)

I would recommend, going having it done. Its wintertime, so go darker and richer color.

I have med-dark ash blonde and I have been a redhead for twenty years now, no one besides my hairdresser and husband know that. My own mother forgot.

Over the counter hair color has lots of peroxide in them, to lighten even the darkest hair. So that may not be the right products for you. If you are confdent enough, you can blend you own colors from Sally's and get the correct % of peroxide for your natural hair color, to make the color last better. IT takes practice and cost about the same, it is just a longer process all the way around. Yet I make a custom red, you can't find it, because I blend it myself, and everyone thinks it real. So it has its perks!

Best wishes.
Please put "leave in conditioner" on your hair Tips every day., it needs to be at least an inch or more away from you scalp

understand the only CURE for your ends is a CUT.
as far as darkening your hair .... you must be careful with primary/base colors.
you dont want green/blue or orange/red hair.
try finding a N ( neutral) base color that is one shade lighter then your natural.
mix the color as directed and then mix the color and a MILD shampoo 1:1 ...
apply to lightened hair only for 10 minutes then apply to regrowth and again wait 10 minutes , now wet, lather and thoroughly rinse ... do not shampoo again for 48 hours. if you like that color then you know what to use if you want to make it permanent. Then go and get a professional moisturizer ( biolage hydrating balm or moisture masque).
