Dear Mickey,
You can enjoy fruit anytime, although the kitchen queen believes it is better to dine on a salad before the main meal, for the sake of good ettiquette.
If your reason for eating fruit before a meal is to cut calories and be healthy, try having an apple (any variety) or melon slices (any variety) since these fruits are easy to digest, very pleasant tasting and can be a socially graceful, no-cook finger food.

Happy eating,
kitchen queen

I'm no expert, but I do know that fruit does stimulate your palate. I've heard of some negative interactions like gas and bloating when there is a combination of fruits and meats.
