is losing it's legs. Every time I have a look at him/her, the poor thing has lost a leg - what could be doing it. I don't see any larger spiders around. I feel sorry for it as it's been there quite awhile now.

niccilice - I live in the country and left this window on purpose because the spider had taken up residence. It's a nice spider

It is molting... they will grow back.

However, it could just be reaching the end of its lifespan... they usually die at the end of fall...

2. don't worry about it, spiders often lose legs, that's why they start with 8 of them! :-)

yes, it could be the shell, or it could have died long ago. I like spiders also. I would not clean the window either!

it could be the shell it grew out of, they shed there skin and move on. try looking closer to see if he moves.
