MSC has very quietly been building a very nice fleet of eight ships, from the small and intimate "Rhapsody" (17,000 tons, 400 passengers) to their two newest and largest twin sister-ships, "Musica" and "Orchestra" (90,000 tons, 2550 passengers). These ships are elegant and gleaming. Their two smaller ships are well cared for "classic" ships - I was on their "Melody" 15 -20 years ago when it sailed as the Home Lines "Atlantic".
MSC lines' slogan is "Beautiful, Passionate, Italian", and it should not be surprise - they are based in Italy. As such, their cruises are geared toward "the fine art of Italian hospitality".
Although they have built their cruise business in the last 7-10 years, MSC is not a new player. MSC (Mediterranean Shipping Corporation) has been sailing the high seas for a long time.
Their cruises sail all over the world, many into and out of the US, so finding a cruise itinerary to suit your taste should not be a problem. MSC is also a moderately priced cruise.
If you're considering an MSC cruise I would recommend the "Sinfonia" or "Armonia", (both 58,000 tons, 1666 passengers) the "Lirica" or "Opera", (both 60,000 tons, 1700 passengers) or the new "Musica" or "Orchestra".
I hope this information is helpful to you and that you enjoy your cruise. Remember that planning your vacation is a good part of enjoying it! Bon voyage.
