If you are in the US, you can contact the Credit Reporting Agencies directly. The big 3 are: Equifax, Experian, and Trans-Union. Depending on the state you live in, you are entitled to one free report per year and must be advised any time a negative item is added.

Hey Jasmine, you simply log on to www.creditreports.comor ca. If that doesn't get the answer your looking for and you live in Canada just call which ever company you do your taxes with and they will be able to help you.
