Any god that would order me to kill my own child is not a god I would EVER consider following. That god can take their protection and promises and shove it.

My parents would want me to save my child. They've lived their lives, but my child's life has just begun. I hope to never have to make that choice.

Love doesn't flow. It isn't a substance. It is an emotion, and we do tend to feel that emotion strongly towards our children.

I think that Abraham did to his son was child abuse. If anybody strapped their kid to a stone and raised a knife to kill him just because some voice told him to do it, they'd be jailed and would never see their kid again. Imagine the trauma of your dad strapping you down and threatening to kill you.

I believe God is love and He is just, I also believe He would not ask this of us, because this scenario was a prophisy to show us what He did with His own Son, Jesus Christ.
However if I had to choose I would choose God and so would my child (if I had one).
This other part is more difficult, I would have to choose my child (again, if I had one, but I don't)
