My daughter is in pre-k and she is 4 yrs old. She started this year. She was born in November so she missed the cut off.. She will start Kindergarden in 2007. Your son should start pre-k in 2007 and kindergarden in 2008.

it depends if you are wanting him to start kindergarten or pre school they have to take a placement test. it just lets the school know what he does or doesn't need help with. for pre k they must score below a certain scale. if they score above he may not get in and will have to wait and go to kindergarten. they try to allow the children who need more help in pre k first. i have 2 children who had to do this. the test is simple. mostly ABC 123 , can they draw straight lines, do they know there colors and so forth. the average age for pre k is 3 to 4. for kindergarten they have to turn 5 by october 1 of the school year. i hope this helps. if not call the school your child will attened ask them to send you some information.

pre-k is at age 4 and kindergarten is at age 5 so by next august when kids start school again you can enroll him depending on where you live legally you dont have to enroll him till he is 5 yrs old but its better to enroll them the earliest as possible good luck

Honestly, if you want him to turn out really smart and well -adjusted, you should have started him in preschool in the fall this year. It's recommended that you start kids in preschool their 3rd year. So they get 2 years of preschool to get adjusted, learn numbers and the alphabet and better coping skills. Things like that. One year is fine, but 2 is better before they get to kindergarten.
