Your body is in "survival" mode.. It wont give you any energy b/c its in shock and trying to conserve everything it can.. Did you know that you burn over 300 Cal's by sitting in a chair for 4 hours?? so you are pretty much killing your body. and every calorie you put in your system it is going to try and hold on to.

Not only is it dangerous, but it will make it VERY hard for you to lose weight in the future. Starving yourself alters your metabolism - after a while your body will require fewer and fewer calories to function, so if you ever eat normally your body will basically freak out and convert EVERYTHING to fat. It takes years and years to re-train your metabolism to be normal (I'm still working on it after 5 years... I used to "eat" nothing but a bottle of ciderjack every single day).

Other dangers that you should know about: losing too much weight can cause your period to stop. That doesn't sound like a big deal, but it will be later in life. The more periods you miss, the greater your risk for developing osteoporosis. Osteoporosis makes your bones brittle, porous, and prone to fracture, and can actually make you shrink (think about what hunched little old ladies look like!). It can also make hair grow in weird places - if you lose too much fat your body tries to compensate by growing hair to keep you warm. That's just gross.

If you're serious about losing weight, see a nutritionist. It's much more important to balance protein, carbs, and fats than it is to limit your total calorie intake. As a general rule, anything under 1000 calories per day puts you at risk and can have serious long-term effects.

Yes it is too few calories for a human body. If you are trying to lose weight, it may actually impede your weight loss. When you consume so few calories, your body's metabolism will slow down to conserve energy.

You should go with a moderate reduction in your caloric intake and increase your cardio exercise. You will be healthier in the long run and not feel so miserable.

Go to the American Diabetes Associations web site and look at the dietary guidelines. The menu/diet guidelines provide a very well balanced nutritional intake that are easy to follow.

Get away from the "dieting" mentality and look more towards changing your lifestyle (I know....easier said than done).

That's not even one meal. This is very unhealthy, and if you are trying to lose weight by not eating, it'll come back to haunt you because not eating slows down your metabolism and makes you gain more weight later because your body goes into starvation mode and starts to store fat. A good amount of cals to eat is around 1600 or so per day and exercise for an hour each day is always the best way.

You're digging your own grave, dear. And it's a slow and painful death. 1000 a day at least. Wanna keep thin? then cut the carbs and that will do. Complement it with some excercise.

yes--NEVER go below 1,000 calories a day, and that is dieting. it is best to ask your doctor who can take in weight and body mass considerations as well as your general health.

besides your body will go into "starvation mode" and will actually hold on to anything you put into it since it doesn't know when it will be fed again

YES! Stunningly, stunningly, incredibly bad.

Not only should you stop this immediately, you should talk to a doctor ASAP to be evaluated for a possible eating disorder.

I've been there. Don't blow this off.
