A couple of years ago, my mum bought some fish fingers with a weird kind of dark brown, crunchy batter on and after eating them i was sick for a whole day. What kind of batter was this and why did it make me ill?

I seem to remember that there was a change in the batter on ROSS fish fingers, around about that time, although the batter was crispy it was very very greasy, this is probably what upset you...hope this helps

Most fish fingers have breadcrumbs on not batter. They could've been Young "Chip Shop Batter" Fish Fingers. If in doubt just make sure you buy the ones in breadcrumbs.

It would be more probable that it was the fish that caused your sickness,as for the crispy batter, it could have been potato flour batter or rice flour batter, they are lush.

You are right. You need to know what it was so that you don't eat it again. Good question but not so good Mum.
