They should have the opportunity to become baptized because they could not control the circumstances under which they were born.

Why is it that some people feel they or their babies just HAVE to be baptized to be saved from going to hell? Not that baptism isn't a nice spiritual thing, but not being baptized is not going to keep you from heaven...

Take the story of Christ dying on the cross and two thieves are hanging next to him. One disavows Jesus and doesn't want anything to do with him. The other thief says he believes that Christ is the son of God and Jesus tells him that he will see him in paradise... Do you think Christ was lying to him about seeing him in heaven? If not, then, do you really think the people took that thief down off the cross, sprinkled him with Holy water, blessed him and then put him back up on the cross to die? Give me a break!

C'mon now, people! Use a little common sense. Baptizing is great, but not absolutely necessary. And as far as God is concerned: a baby, regardless if it is born in marriage or out of wedlock is still a baby and innocent. Not baptizing an innocent creature for the sins of the father is crazy because who are we, as mere humans, to judge? Isn't judgment supposed to be left for God? And let those who want to be baptized be, it's not hurting you or your personal relationship with God in any way. So let them, why close your doors to them? Maybe having their child baptized will only help to bring the parents closer to the church and to God. If you stop them, you might be stopping the one event that has the potential to save them as well.

No babies should be baptized. Baptism is meant to be the first step of obedience after a person trust Christ for salvation, and babies can't do that. But a grown person born out of wed-lock should be baptized after he trust Christ. All people are born in sin whether their parents are married or not, we are all descendants of Adam.

The bible says we are all born into sin.The sin is on the man and the woman conceiving outside of marriage.Dedicating A child to the lord by baptism is not necessary, but when the child reaches an age where they can decide for themselves, redemption not decision is what the lord wants. Then the child can be baptized in the name of the father, and of the son,and of the holy spirit. Then his soul will be safe with the lord forever.

The sin of the parents has nothing to do with the baby. The child is innocent and pure.

Why should the child not be baptized for a sin someone else committed over which the he/she had no control, no knowledge and no existance?

When we baptize babies in my church its saying that the congegation will watch over them, not that they baby is being saved. Babies are covered until their age of accountability, which could be anywhere from 8 to 13.

Doesn't have anything to do with whether the babies parents are married or not.

Babies should never be baptized. No where in the Bible was a baby baptized.Mark 16:16 says it's a curse to be baptized when you don't believe, and if you believe you shall be saved.A baby can't believe, nor can it repent and be baptized as stated in Acts2:38.In Gods eyes we as long as He is your Father there is no bastards. All children belong to Him until they become accountable, and then they have a choice to except Him as their Father or reject Him and become bastards,in the spiritual sense.

Many Christian denominations do not baptize infants. They must accept Christ when they are old enough and choose to be baptized. At that point, it doesn't really matter if your parents were married. It is a personal choice.

Babies should not be baptized at all! Water does not save. Babies are *automatically* saved.

A child does not bear their parents sin. Mom and Dad have to answer for their sin, the child does not!!!

Jesus talks about this through the story of the blind man...

I think perhaps you have a misconception about the different baptisms we Christians have.

The "christening" of a baby, where the priest sprinkles the baby and prays over it and blesses it, is done not to save its little perfect soul, but is a dedication by the parents to raising the child according to the principles of Jesus.

A "baptism" is done when a person who is of the age of reasoning, between the ages of 8 and 12, who accepts that Jesus is his Savior and dedicates themselves to that. It is done as a public proclamation of being saved; they dip the person into water fully as a demonstration of being born again. btw, it is at the moment of being saved that a person is born again, not at the baptism, that's just the public ceremony.

I hope that explains it for you, I know I tend to ramble lol
