I have 2 boys, ages 16 and 20. Their whole lives, they would go through periods of eating breakfast and then not eating breakfast. There were times when I couldn't keep enough cereal/breakfast foods in the house! I talked to the doctor and he said kids will eat when they're hungry. All you can do is have food available. Your daughter will be fine. It sounds like she has a good mommy to take care of her.

Some kids just dont do breakfast.
You 'do' pack her a healthy snack for 10:30 am. thats good!! she probley eats well then, and not hungry untill 10 am.
Myself I don't do breakfast, never have... I just am not hungry for it first thing in the morning.
The ODD morning I may have some toast with butter/margarine.
Just try a slice of toast.
I send mine to school without breakfast also, she's like me, she's not hungry first thing in the morning. The odd day though she will have some toast.

My daughter did not eat breakfast last year, I frankly lost hope cause I too tried everything, but it seems that kids are like grown ups, you are not always in the mood to eat right after you wake up, so just let go, as long as she eats well in the break then just let her, my daughter ( she is now 9 ) changed without me doing anything, she started having a little sandwich before she left to school

does she tell you why she wont eat my son who is 8 now had trouble with breakfast for a long time and finally we went to the doctor and he had some allergy problems which through the night he would wake up and be full of mucus(gross) iknow but as soon as we started to treat his allergy symptoms before he went to bed when he woke up he was hungry and ready to eat. if she is offered a milkshake at breakfast and turns it down it is probably a medical or a nervous condition id take her to the doctor. good luck i know how it is to worry about a little one who might be hungry at school..

I concur with Tina. While I agree that breakfst is a VERY important meal and shouldn't be skipped, the world will not end if a child doesn't eat what's provided. She'll eat when she's hungry. In the meantime, make sure that what is available is healthy.

Lots of people just are not hungry in the early morning. If she has a healthy snack at 10:30, I would not worry about it.

I have a five year old who is the same way. He just doesn't like to eat early in the morning. Healthy snacks seem to work with him. Just keep offering her food in the morning. If she is hungry she will eat. ;) Also you may want to talk to her teacher about if she is eating her lunch at school. Good luck.

I have a 9 y/o and an 11 y/o. They don't always eat breakfast, in fact the 9 y.o almost never does. Dont force her to eat just because its "breakfast TIME" She will eat if she is hungry. Otherwise you are actually instilling bad eating habits by forcing through time, not hunger.

Don't worry about. She will eat when she gets hungry. If you withhold the snack for a few days, she might find that it's no fun to wait until lunch time to eat.

Stop trying so hard to make her eat. Kids are finicky and will eat when they are hungry. Plus, she'll learn that if she doesn't eat in the morning, then her next opportunity won't be until lunch and that might persuade her to chow down in the morning.
