Next NYE, me and friends want to go to the full mon party in Thailand - I hear there are two. One in Koh Phangan and one in Koh Samoui! Which is best? If we go for 10-14 days - does anybody ahve any suggestions as to where we would start (from 28 Dec) to be at the beach party for NYE and finish (around 7-10Jan).

I have been told to fly in to Bangkokk but really have no idea about how to do things!

Any help you could give me would be wonderful!

Thanks all!!

I'm sorry but there is no full moon on New Years Eve.
The nearest full moon is Jan 3rd 2007.
Fly to Bangkok.
Then either fly to Koh Samui, or train or bus to Surrathani, deoendent on budget, and ferry to Koh Samui/Koh Phangan.

I haven't been to the full moon party myself but I have been to Thailand a few times and have been told the party in Koh Samui is awesome.

Fly to Bangkok firstly check out some on-line travel agents or airlines. Then fly onward to Koh Samui it's probably another two hour flight from Bangkok. Try Hayes and Jarvis and Lonelyplanet.com for a bit more in depth information. Enjoy, I may try it out myself this year.

Depends on what you want to do. The islands offer great relaxing atmospheres, however I would suggest spending a few days in Bangkok, Khoa San Rd. This is a center for all back packers, plus there are many travel agents here, where you can sort your travel out with to the islands. I would suggest going to Ko Phangan. If you are on a budget you can travel here on an over night coach, for 10 hours and then a ferry over to the island. The best place to stay in Ko Phangnan is Haad Rin, check out the links, I'll be in Bangkok from Jan 10th, if you are still there and want to meet up let me know. However you'll have a fantastic time, enjoy!!
