I live in PA, he in SC, he has asked me to marry him and start a life. I would much rather keep my home and job, and have him come here, he has made his mother a problem. She is independent and capable of being alone, she does want him to be happy. I think he is more depepndent on her and doesn't want to leave from her covering and familiararity. He is a tractor trailer driver and can get a job anywhere in PA, I can't get a job that easily in SC. In love, want it to work, what should I do? If he would sacrifice our happiness because he doesn't want to relocate, does he really love me? We've known each other since we were 8 years old, now we're 43 and time is ticking away. I relocated to be with him 12 years ago, it didnt work then because of him being stubborn, he says he has learned from that experience, and hasn't dated since I left. (verified through his mother, he lives with her) I think I would be crazy to do it again, this time he would have to make the sacrifice!

You both sound very much in love. How about asking him to move and buying/renting his mom a place close by, that way you'll be in your comfort zone and able to deal with her from a distance; and enable him to move? I think you're going to have to accept the fact that he'll never want his mom out of his life...as annoying as it is; the package comes with it.
