May I suggest you do a study of the book of Ecclesiastes? It was written by supposedly the richest man in history, Solomon. He wrote it at a time that he had everything, and then some. My understanding is that he made Bill Gates look like a pauper lol.
Anyway, he asks that very question. I found the actual text hard to read without a study book, or at least a brief explanation of what I was reading lol, but when I figured it out, it brought a whole new perspective to my life.
Dr. Ed Young has a pretty good book about it, check it out!

The purpose of your life is what you make it.
It can be a long life of regularity and boredom.
It can be a long life filled with partying and empty promises.
It can be a long life full of friends, family, love, and happiness.
Or it can be a short life with all of the above.
Fate doesn't exist, and neither does destiny. YOU are the only one that controls what happens in your life. If you are sick, you can either be defeated, stay closed up emotionally and physically, pray everyday, etc. OR, you can do what you can to make yourself HAPPY!
In the end, everyone dies, and there is nothing we can do about it. Should we fear it? I think so. Otherwise, if you don't fear death, then you have nothing to live for today!!
This is the one life we have. You should make it great!!

Hi Suzette, I'm sorry that you're ill. I hope you have more life left than your question seems to indicate. But, if you don't please live out the time you have left doing what makes you happy. I would start by going places, I've always wanted to go to, but haven't yet. Trying new activities that Interested me, but I hadn't tried yet. Then when my selfish pleasures were satisfied, I do my best to help others, starting with my family members. I would want to make sure that their memories of me would be noble, loving and kind as much as possible. But, I don't feel we have a "higher purpose" because I'm an atheist. I feel we give ourselves purpose by our choices and actions and how they affect those around us. Right now my purpose in life is to be the best mother I can be for my son, and keep my husband happy and able to be a good father as well. I hope to lose some weight soon. And I do my best to help those in need in whatever way I can. I'm not a wealthy person so, my ability to help others is limited by my station in life. But when I can, I do help. So, to me the best thing we can do in life is love eachother, and show our love in as many ways as we can. Best of luck to you with finding purpose. And best wishes for better health and more time to love.

To answer your question, you should re-phrase it as 'What is the purpose of a mosquito's life'. I dont believe there is a purpose to any living thing's life, humans ask the question because they refuse to believe that they are animals themselves, and that they are spiritually superior to every other living thing. An adult chimp or dolphin is more intelligent than a 3 year old child, yet we adhere to the belief that the child has a soul, but the chimp or dolphin does not. It makes no logical sense.

I like to think of this life as school. Our souls need the human experience in order to pass on to the next level. All experience is learning, sin as well as virtue. And no human ever really learned a good lesson except through adversity. Death is not the end of everything but a new beginning. So the real purpose of this life is to live, taste, dance, learn, weep and soak it all up.

God created humans to live for ever. That is still God's purpose for mankind and that is the purpose of my life - to live forever in a beautiful world inhabited by faithful humans serving God. The apostle Paul says that without the resurrection hope our ministry, our faith, our hope, would all be in vain. So as long as a person serves God faithfully even if he dies as a result of time and unforeseen circumstances, he'll have his life back when God extends his blessings down to this earth. This faith, hope, keeps me going through whatever comes out of this present depressing life today.

Our life on earth is a trial set by the Almighty as how faithful we are towards the God. Needless to say we are the creations of God. It is for sure we have to do something to repay this gifted precious life and soul , in other words we have to show our thankfulness to God's benevolence . In brief, we will either obey God's commands or to follow the Satan. During the eternal life
only our good and bad deeds will go along with us to answer for what we have done on earth. We have to leave all our wealth and the love ones behind, God will sentence us either to Heaven or Hell according to how much good or bad deeds we have.

You hit the nail on the head.
Everything in this life has a dead end.
That is why, we have to serve God. It will get us through this life that is just vanity.
Ecc 2:26 For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit.
Ecc 3:19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.
Ecc 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

I think it varies for everyone. We were put on earth for a reason that perhaps only God knows. You were put here to bring joy to those who love you. You were put here for others to reach out to. And when your body dies - you are not dead. Everyone who has ever known you - will remember you in some way or another. No one knows exactly how many people they affect within their life time but it's many, many, many. Even those who don't know you personally - know you because people you know are talking about you or asking for prayers for you. The purpose of life is to LIVE in between your birth and your death. Peace be yours.
