IOW, who's your "faith hero"? Why?

I have several "faith heroes" for whom I am extremely grateful.

My wonderful sister-in-law helped me initially. I thought I was a Christian since my dad brought me up in a church (but I was wrong). From the first time I met my worldly sister-in-law I adored her! When she became a born-again Christian I adored her even more!!!

She helped me to get to the point where I could ask the Holy Spirit to help me. I realize NOW that the Holy Spirit has been working in me throughout my life. Hindsight is 20-20.

Several authors have been of humungous help to me.
Charles Spurgeon with Morning and Evening as well as several other books.
Oswald Chambers in My Utmost for His Highest
C.S. Lewis in Mere Christianity as well as several other books.
I've also been greatly influenced through The Father's Love Letter by Barry Adams.

Lately I've been receiving a great deal of help from Ravi Zacharias and J.I. Packer.

I have received help from each and everyone of these people and now I try to pass on to other people the blessings that I have received.

Before I came in contact with my faith heroes I was living to self and making a mess of my life. Now I am learning about living to the purpose to which my heavenly Father has called me and I know JOY and peace.

Both of my parents, altho they are Catholic, and I am not. I haven't been Catholic since I started questioning the rules at the age of 13. However, even tho we don't share the same beliefs, they were both an influence and an inspirition for me to see how they love God, and Jesus and the 10 commandments. It was just the wonderful feeling my family had, concerning faith, and the open communication about different faiths. Later I became just Christian, and I worship God on a personal relationship. ( not within any specific church)

My parents played a big part in my faith because of how I was raised. My parents taught me to have faith and that nothing is too bad to overcome with Gods help. I honestly don't think I would have made it this far in life if I had not had my faith to hold onto. My Sister is also one of my faith heroes. She lives her life through faith and I have seen it get her through so many trials. I am so thankful that I was raised in a Christian home. This life isn't easy and I praise God for getting me this far and for the lessons I've learned and the faith I have.

...While I was single -
...1. Mike (a Navigator, close Christian friend, and one-time roommate); he helped me in my early years as a believer - he's like a brother to me
...2. Fred (a Campus Crusade missionary), a dear friend, who helped me through hard times;he loves the Lord and has such a gentle spirit
...3 Bill (a close Christian friend) - a committed Christian friend who would always tell what I needed to hear, not always what I wanted to hear - and oh, what puns that guy could tell!
...4 Barcroft Bible Church of Fairfax & Arlington, VA - where I learned evangelism, Biblical counseling, and was fed week after week and encouraged/challenged to grow in Christ
...After I got married:
...1 My wife, who loves God more than she loves me, is a Christian who is sold out to Jesus Christ, and who takes marvelous care of our home and children.

My grandfather, Glenn, and My Savior, Jesus Christ.

My grandfather one of the most knowledgable people I have known in my life that knew the scriptures inside and out. He had an answer to EVERY and ANY question that you could possibly imagine. He was very wise. Very loving. Very compassionate, gentle, kind, understanding, smart, successful, Christ-like. He was almost perfect in my eyes. It was because of him that I chose to study the scriptures extensively, gain a testimony of the truth for myself, serve a service mission for the Church, and become a writer.

Jesus Christ for obvious reasons: he suffered, bled and died for me. Need I say more?

In my "faith"? ... Nobody. I don't have "faith". Its an absurd notion and I have no need of such things.

In my "spirituality" though? My "belief system"?

Me.

... Though I'd have to say a thankyou to Lao Tsu, Aleister Crowley and Charles Darwin. Much as I dislike being influenced by other people, I have to credit these guys with helping out, regardless.

Don - He was my pastor when i was a teenager. He always went out his way to answer questions. No questions were off limits and he never judged as far as I was aware. He was approachable and involved in church camp and retreat planning. And was the kind of youth leader that all the kids loved.

The natural world - so beautiful, perfectly symbiotic, fascinating, self-sustaining, complex, inexplicable, unpredictable, dangerous, brutal, heartless, uncaring, savage and deadly - there can be no other interpretation than the complete absence of God.

Well first and foremost the Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) has been a guiding force in my life but when I seem to slip off course my mom brings me back on track. She has strong faith and I wish I was more like her.
