Several religions accept poligamy, like mormons and muslems. In the western Christian/Catholic culture in which I grew up, poligamy is inmoral and monogamy is linked to fidelity. The lack of fidelity is both inmoral and punishable by law (adultery). Is there a concept like fidelity linked to poligamy, in a religion or moral paradigm that accepts poligamy (such as mormons and muslems)?

Poligamy is vile and should be outlawed. Obviously there is no fidelity equivallent, the bored dirty old husband wants a new partner, he just get married again and has more weird - shaped kids with his new wife and sistercousingranauntie Mary-Lou.
Syed, God never said to have multiple wives wash your mouth out!!!
As for the Women don't get me started. They are stupid accepting sheep and should be ashamed to be called female. As for me, I don't share MY Husband with anyone (I deserve to have him ALL to myself) !!!!

i'm assuming that English isn't your close by language.. the two way evaluate taking a remedial writing direction. listed decrease than are some examples: In Exodus 21:10, a guy can marry a limiteless volume of girls those with none limits to what proportion he can marry. In 2 Samuel 5:13; a million Chronicles 3:a million-9, 14:3, King David had six better halves and diverse concubines. In a million Kings 11:3, King Solomon had seven hundred better halves and 3 hundred concubines. In 2 Chronicles 11:21, King Solomon's son Rehoboam had 18 better halves and 60 concubines. In Deuteronomy 21:15 "If a guy has 2 better halves, and he loves one yet no longer the different, and the two undergo him sons...." the recent Testaments weighs in with: "do no longer think of that I even have come to abolish the regulation (the previous testomony) or the Prophets; I even have not come to abolish them yet to fulfill them. I permit you comprehend the reality, till heaven and earth disappear, no longer the smallest letter, no longer the least stroke or a pen, will by utilising any ability disappear from the regulation (the previous testomony) till each and every thing is performed. (Matthew 5:17-18)"

Fidelity is certainly linked to Polygamy. Equal rights are ordained for all wives. Children from all wives have shares in property. Among Muslims the shares of Son Daughter Spouse (and close relations in some cases- ARE PREDETERMINED). Polygamy is the only answer to present age's immorality, brothels and unwed-wives and the children born out of wedlock (called Bastards who may never know the mother or Father and on growing up may have sex with a real brother/sister)! It gives a higher social and religious status to women than in living together without marriage. The Bible and Hindu sacred Texts report polygamy among Prophets, Kings, Saints, Rishi, Bhagwans. Polygamy is NOT IMMORAL. Free sex is IMMORAL.*** In Islam, polygamy is prmitted (under conditions) not as a commandment or compulsion. Thus, in some countries, there is no Polygamy, in others, a very small percentage practices it. I am an elderly person. I have yet to know a man with more than one wife in my long life span. A man can not marry two sisters in polygamy...in Islam. Thus, Fidelity as well as Morality is assured in polygamy. And the celibacy is not considered as a piety... though it is not disallowed.

There's also adultery in poligamy cultures. Poligamy is not a license to go after somebody else's wife or wives. You observation just shows how close is the link between morals and cultural mandates. If living in a poligamist culture, well... go and follow its poligamist rules or else (you might be beheaded, mind you).

Here we go again--associating polygamy with Mormons. It truly gets old explaining that in October 1890, a Manifesto was proclaimed by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that polygamy was ruled illegal and no more sanctioned.

Any Mormon caught practicing plural marriage were, and are, immediately excommunicated.

I trust the asker of the question, as well as the rest of the readers (besides Lisabug77) now know the truth.

As a member of the LDS church, I would like to let you know that polygamy is not permitted. Our church upholds strong family values. Maybe you should contact some local LDS Missionaries and ask them to let you read the Proclamation to the Family. It was put out by the Church and will better explain our family values to you. Maybe you could read it at LDS.org? I hope that this help you to be better informed....maybe you could spread the word, and help us put an end to this nonsense myth!!!

No, why can polygamy be immoral, just look at old testament people, everyone married more than 2 wives, even Abraham, Isaack, Jacob, Joseph everyone, According to modern Church polygamy is immoral, Jesus did not preach it, its the church after defeating coptic, syrian and turkish chruches, the remaining church pronounced polygamy immoral. It is the word of man not the word of GOD.

"Mormon's", or Latter Day Saints, do NOT believe in polygamy nor support it in any way, shape or form. It is illegal, and thus, immoral.
Those who are honest will keep the laws set by man, or they are not obeying God. This makes them liars; they are dishonest. Polygamy is against the law. It is wrong.

I am a muslim and Islam allows a man to have more than one wife.
BUT..................for one to have more one wife, one need to be very very pious. A very pious man will find it more easier to control / support / tolerate more than one wife than a ordinary man like me. Muslim men cannot go marring other woman to suite their wims and fancies....... nevertheless you may find many muslim guys doing so --- good and bad is found in all groups

ONE INTERESTING FACT - Did you know that (according to Quranic predictions) that the ratio of woman to man will be one man to 70 woman - who are the woman at that time going to marry?
