God's word the bible is the best book to use in teaching someone about God but you have to first study the bible, get to know more than just the stories, whenever you come across a passage, ask yourself: How can i apply this in my life, what lessons can i learn from this, What does it teach me about God and his purpose for mankind, How does it relate with the overall theme of the bible??? This call for meditation and prayers. When you get a good understanding of the scriptures then you will be able to teach with conviction as Jesus did, making people outstanded at his way of teaching. For more information on getting well acquinted with the bible you can visit this web site. www.watchtower.org.

Take your time and try not to say something that's either confusing or hurtful. People who are searching for God really want to reach out and take him in their hearts but they don't know where to start. So begin at the very beginning. Start with how God created the heavens and the earth. Then go on. Baby steps... you don't want to scare him off. Make sure that he knows that God is real and just take it from there. Remember the scriptures..... John 3:16, Psalm 123, Romans 8:28. Think of the scriptures that have helped you when you are discouraged or you felt alone. I will pray for you and your boyfriend. One day, you will see him saved if you just keep it up...

I just talked to some missionaries yesterday at lunch. They are from China. They said that they start by asking if they ever heard of Jesus, and go from there.
Open the Bible with your friend and show him John 3:16. Tell him of God's love for us.. so much that He came to earth as a man and died for us so we won't go to Hell and can have life in Heaven. He needs to know that Heaven and Hell are real and Gods gift of salvation to us. It is free and we don't have to be "good enough" to get it. We come as were are and ask Jesus into our hearts (see Romans 10:9-13).
Then this should lead to Him reading the Bible himself.
As far as church, maybe start with small groups and Bible studies to let him see that church people are regular people too, not strange way out types.

I was raised Mormon but when I met my wife I must say that I had given up basically. I didn't even want to hear about faith. My wife was so understanding and never pushed anything on me, but we started out just having long conversations and she had so much faith that it actually made me think maybe there was something to it. We have Bible study together and it has been great. She got a couples study book and we do that together. It only takes about 15 minutes and we both get so much out of it. It has made us even closer in our relationship too. The thing is that she never put me down if I didn't agree with something or if I questioned something. That made me even more open to learn. I think it's great that you are going to share your faith with your guy. You are giving him something very special and you will get closer, believe me. Good Luck.

If you want to teach your friend about the Bible, make sure YOU know it and apply it first. For instance, if you two are in an intimate relationship, how can you tell him that the Bible condemns such a practice? If you drink to excess, how can you show him that drunkenness is wrong from the Bible's viewpoint? If you believe in the unscriptural doctrine of the trinity, how can you teach your friend what the Bible really says about God? Study the Bible yourself first, then you can help your friend.

You both get your Bible {KJV} out and start reading it. I
would start in Matthew {New Testament} and read clear through to Revelation. Revelation will tell you what's going
on in the world nowadays and what's coming.

Personally, if I were you, I'd keep your religious beliefs to yourself. Differences in religious opinion will shatter relationships.
