I had the dust problem with my plasma, which is wall mounted and I was scared to clean it incase I broke it. I now just use a Feather duster and it keeps it nice n shiney. My husband gets the hoover hose to the vents every six weeks too.

just make sure the whole house is dust free . for plasma screen you can get the swiffer dusting extenders to clean your screen ! Do not spray anything on the screen ! This will damage it seriously!

Static makes the dust stick to the screen. So take capful of fabric conditioner mixed with warm water, use a cloth and wring it out fairly dry and rub over the screen should keep the static at bay.

Most of the answers you have so far are quite useless as you have probably found out.
To clean the screen use a dry and very clean duster and wipe it over put no pressure on the cloth or the screen. The cloth should be clear of any bleach or soap residues.
Easy really.
