can i recatch a bacterial infection?

i have a urinary tract infection. i am on an antibiotic. once i started feeling better i had intercourse with my wife while still on the medicine.
now it seems she is the one i caught this from as my symptoms have re-appeared. she is going to the doctor today to take care of her. but what should i do? i am finishing my meds but what else should i do is anything? will it go away again as i am on the meds?

Sexual intercourse should be avoided while being treated for a UTI. It is possible that you made need treatment again, although try to avoid regular antibiotic treatment. If a course of antibiotics is not finished properly, you may not have eliminated the bacteria. It is possible that if you were towards the end of your course of antibiotics, the bacteria was in low numbers, but you may have been re-infected by your wife, thus dramatically raising the bacterial numbers. This would make the rest of your treatment course inefficient. Make sure to drink plenty of fluids. If you don't like cranberry juice, plain water is just fine, but LOTS of it. You may need to visit your doctor again

Urinary Tract infection is something you can recatch even you have no sexual intercourse. Try to drink lots of water as much as
possible this will help you. One of the cause of UTI is controlling your urination on time, then the bladder react.

Both of you need to stay away from sex during this treatment of the UTI.
What you can do for yourself is to drink plenty of cranberry juice and water. Alternate between the 2.
You may want to call your doctor and have him or her give you another round of antibiotics. Better to be safe than sorry.
