While it might not fit the physical description of a Quagmire,, but we sure aren't going anywhere fast over there. About time for a DMZ around the Sunnis if you ask me. Then we can have troops there for the next 50 years just like Korea.

No a quagmire usually refers to something that is wet and muddy like a bog . Iraq is a big mess of self rightious civil groups at each others throats to try to be the leaders of the total. Greed in wanting the dollars in the black gold of oil

No. The U.S. will have over 75% of it's goals met by June of next year. All the police and soldiers the U.S. thinks need to be trained will be trained by the end of this year (that's over 500,000 people). Iraq has a fully functional government. Fifty percent of Iraq will be in Iraq's government's control by the end of this year. Over 1,000 structures will have been built including hospitals and schools.
